Manchester Adventure Days

adventure-day-overview-manchesterMountain Monkeys has established a number of adventure days in and around the cool city of Manchester.

Each day contains several adventurous activities such as rock climbing and raft building, which provide a great action packed fun filled day to remember. These days are excellent for groups of friends and families to take part in, team away days for businesses or form the basis of our birthdays, stag and hen do packages.

  • Rivington, Bolton – Travel time 30 mins

This has been one of our most popular Manchester Adventure Days over the years. Easy to get to, beautiful location, awesome activities to take part in! The session will begin, abseiling into our rock climbing venue, then taking part in a series of challenging rock climbs of varying difficulties. Once everyone has had a couple of climbs and abseils, the group will then descend down into the quarry basin, taking part in a number of bushcraft challenges, building shelters, lighting fires, preparing food as well as making a hot drink.

After lunch the group then makes it way to our Ghyll Scrambling Venue. The ghyll offers a number of opportunities for getting progressively wetter as it continues with jumps, splash areas and waterfalls all before you make your way into the steep side gorge section, where you are then presented with a 12 metre high waterfall to climb. This challenging ascent is a brilliant way to finish the day, before heading back to our pop up changing rooms.

  • Bury - Travel time 30mins

Activity Summary – Massive Abseil, Walk, Canoeing, Kayaking

Begin the day with an abseil of a cliff face, and then travel down to Burrs Country Park where we would then have lunch, before getting on the River Irwell for a decent in Open Canoes or kayaks. The descent of this river is an excellent taster on white water, dropping down rapids and learning how to play on waves. At the end there is even a lovely little country pub to have a refreshing drink or food and put your feet up.

  • Hobson Moor, Ashton-under-Lyne - Travel time 15mins

Activity Summary – Walk, Team Challenges, Rock Climbing, Abseiling, Bushcraft

Country walk in the rolling countryside, completing a series of challenges before moving onto our rock climbing and big abseil venue. Loads of awesome climbs, where we will get you working and trusting each other, as well as the dreaded ‘Lean Backwards’ whilst stepping off a 100ft cliff!
