  • Coniston Option 1 - Scramble, Walk, Massive Abseil, Cliff Jump, Swim, Tunnel

adventure-day-overview-coniston-001Activity Summary – Scramble, Walk, Massive Abseil, Cliff Jump, Swim, Tunnel

Awesome is an understatement when it comes to this Lake District Adventure Day!

Straight from the word go the excitement starts, with a roadside crag that we scramble up, varying in difficulty, short steep sections, delicate traverses all happen whilst gaining height. At the top you have stunning views down Coniston Water, and views of some of Lakelands beautiful hills such as Old Man of Coniston, Hellvelyn, and Fairfield.

After the scramble, you will then take a short trek across the countryside, before coming to the edge of the stunning Hodge Close Quarry. Here you will take part in a HUGE 150ft vertical abseil, into the base of the quarry. Once stood in the imposing space, you will then clamber up to our Cliff Jumping stop, varying in height and challenge. After a series of jumps into the freezing cold water, the whole group will then swim across the quarry lake, and ascend a ladder into a 120m long water filled tunnel which is our escape route.

This is truly in every sense of the word – Awesome!

  • Coniston Option 2 - Lake Paddle, Kayak or Canoe and Ghyll Scramble

adventure-day-overview-coniston-002Activity Summary – Lake paddle, Kayak or Canoe Awesome Ghyll Scramble

Setting off from the top of Coniston Water, via means of kayak or Open Canoe you and your group will paddle down the lake, surrounded by the spectacular Lake District hills, with Old Man of Coniston and Down Crag standing imposingly above. Whilst you journey down the lake, your instructor will teach you various skills and strokes, before progressing onto some fun games. You will then make your way to the famous Bluebird cafe launch point, for lunch on the shale beach.

After lunch you will then take a short walk to one of the best ghyll scrambling venues in the country; constant swims, jumps, falls and splats all within the first section, before leaving the ghyll for a short period of time to wander to the top of the jumps sections! Three exciting decent jumps, down the ghyll each one unique! This is one of our personal favourites out of all the activities we offer!
